Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
| 1. | Al haaku mut takathur | The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things), | أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ |
|
| 2. | Hatta zurtumul-maqaabir | Until ye visit the graves. | حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ |
|
| 3. | Kalla sawfa ta'lamoon | But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality). | كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ |
|
| 4. | Thumma kalla sawfa ta'lamoon | Again, ye soon shall know! | ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ |
|
| 5. | Kalla law ta'lamoona 'ilmal yaqeen | Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!) | كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ الْيَقِينِ |
|
| 6. | Latara-wun nal jaheem | Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire! | لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِيمَ |
|
| 7. | Thumma latara wunnaha 'ainal yaqeen | Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight! | ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ الْيَقِينِ |
|
| 8. | Thumma latus alunna yauma-izin 'anin na'eem | Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!). | ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ |
